DIXON GILLETTE: Welcome back to Expert Village, my name is Dixon Gillette and let's continue our tutorial on Microsoft Flight Simulator X. During the approach phase of your landing, if you are at 175 knots indicated air speed or below, lower your flaps to 10 degrees. Once your aircraft has slowed down to at least 150 knots indicated air speed, lower your flaps another 10 degrees and maintain 20 degrees of flaps extension. Once your aircraft is below 125 knots indicated air speed, extend your flaps fully to 30 degrees. Remember to aim for the numbers in your Cessna Caravan by keeping the runway numbers in one place on your wind screen. Once you crossover this threshold line, plan for a speed of 85-mile-per-hour touchdown, landing slightly tail low. Once your aircraft has touched down on the runway, gently apply the brakes and exit the runway when the controller tells you to do so. Now is the time to also retract your flaps.
