Cessna 208 Takeoff in Microsoft Flight Simulator

DIXON GILLETTE: Welcome back to Expert Village, my name is Dixon Gillette and let's continue our tutorial on Microsoft Flight Simulator X. All right, it's time to talk about take-off and landing procedures for Cessna Caravan. The required runway length for a Cessna 208 or Caravan is 2,500 feet. During taxi portions in using your Cessna 208 Caravan, your prop and mixture levels should be set fully forward. Give yourself just enough throttle to get going and throttle back to where you maintain a brisk walking pace for your taxi rate. Remember to use your take-off check list by pushing Shift-F10 on your keyboard. For take off, you're going to use anywhere from 0 to 20-degrees of flaps. Once your aircraft is aligned on the center line, advance your throttle forward smoothly. Once your aircraft reaches 80 knots indicated air speed, rotate by pulling your control yoke back towards you. Then once you've reached 90 degrees, begin to lift your aircraft off the ground. Set your climb speed between 100 and 110 knots indicated air speed. A typical cruise setting in a Cessna Caravan is about 155 knots indicated air speed. You're also going to want to set your propeller RPMs from anywhere from 1,600 to 1,900 revolutions per minute.
