Mooney Takeoff in Microsoft Flight Simulator

DIXON GILLETTE: Welcome back to Expert Village, my name is Dixon Gillette and let's continue our tutorial on Microsoft Flight Simulator X. All right, now we're going to go off--take off and landing procedures for the Mooney Bravo. The recommended runway length for the Mooney Bravo is 2,000 feet with 10 degrees of flaps. The recommended runway distance for landing in a Mooney Bravo is 2,500 feet with full flaps. While taxing on the ground in a Mooney Bravo set your RPM to 1,000 revolutions per minute, this will give you a sufficient taxi speed while on the ground. [SOUNDS LIKE] Wherever, now is a good time to push Shift F10 and run through your take off check lists, you'll notice here that it's going to recommend that you set your flaps to 10 degrees and you open up your cowel flaps. Your cowel flaps are small openings on your engine compartment that will essentially allow more air to flow through the engine thus cooling off the engine and prevent an overheat on high RPMs while you're climbing out. When the nose of your aircraft is aligned in the center line of the runway, advance the throttle forward smoothly. You'll notice that your manifold pressure should not exceed 38 inches and your fuel pressure should maintain at least 24 inches of pressure, if it doesn't, abort your take off. When your aircraft reaches 60 knots indicated air speed, start to rotate by pulling back on the control yoke. Once you achieved 85 knots pull the control yoke back until you have 10 degrees of pitch altitude and maintain a climb for this speed. Once your VSI instrument indicates a positive rate of climb both in the vertical and take off speed retract your landing gear by pushing G on your keyboard. Now is the time to adjust our mixture settings and for you to do this you're going to pull back on the mixture handle until your temper--turbine inlet temperature gauge reads peak efficiency for the assigned power settings. Remember a TIT temperature reading of over 94 Celsius means your engine has overheated and you're likely to gotta run into engine failure. Typical cruise settings for the Mooney Bravo are to bring your manifold pressure to 24 inches and your propeller RPMs to 2400.
