How to Analyze Chords in an B Major Song

RYAN LARSON: Now, just want to take a minute to explain the chords. Today we're focusing mainly on melody lines. I will go through chord by chord and explain to you how to find these chords. Again, don't get discouraged. Each one is just a minute segment, one-minute lesson on that actual chord. It will show you the scale and actually how to play it, and they're all found under my first fake book and it's in the keys from C to B major and there are 12 keys in there. So, these chords all come out of different places but you can search for each one of these chords and the appropriate My First Fake Book will show up and also if you--also we'll reference--give you the references as we go through so you can look these up. And again, it's just six or seven chords you'll have to look up, you can just open another window, and we'll go through with the melody and we can figure out these chords and then put them together with the melody, and we'll play through this whole tune in no time. And we'll recap and play the tune at the end so if you want to play the tune before we go through and attempt to play it so you can hear what it sounds like, play the last track and then come back and we'll go step by step through this tune.
