Reverse Punch in Koden Kan Martial Arts
Hi! I’m Madison Warner and I’ve been instructing for over 10 years, my father is Michael M. Foley and it’s his system of Koden Kan, if you’d like to learn more about our style and about us you can go to h2hctc.com which is website for the school and my website is www.mellei.com. Alright today we’re going to learn reverse punch, you’re going to get into your kiba dachi stance, nice and set, knees bent, feet pointing forward and hands back. Reverse punch is going to go to the top of the sternum here…and you’re just going to bring your hand out and back but as fast as you can, okay so first just practice doing it slow because you want to focus and you know aim for the top of your sternum and so this time you’re going to go out really fast and back. So the object of this is to strike quickly and bring your hand back and retract it before someone can get a hold of it, you never want to leave your arm dangling out there because somebody will grab you and throw you on the floor so bring your arm all the way out and back. Make sure not to hyper extend your elbow on this one, just make sure you hold your muscles around your elbow so that you don’t hyper extend, okay that was reverse punch.
