Forward Thrust Punch in Koden Kan Martial Arts
Hi! I’m Madison Warner and I’ve been instructing for over 10 years in Michael M. Foley system of Koden Kan Karate-do and if you’d like to learn more about our style and us you can go to our website at h2hctc.com or my website is mellei.com. Alright today I’m going to show you forward thrust punch, we’re going to start out in our kiba dachi stance and knees bent nice and low, you want your feet pointing forward. I can’t stress how important the stance is, very important to be nice and low, back straight, strong core, alright hands back and forward thrust punch is going to go straight out to the nose, when you make a fist you want to curl your fingers in and put your thumb over the top, you never want to put your thumb inside or do anything else weird just do this…you’re going to punch straight out to the nose and you want to hit with your first two knuckles, you’re going to angle your wrist so that it’s straight, if you do this you’ll hurt yourself, if you do this you’ll hurt yourself so make sure that your wrist is completely straight and again you’re angled to where your first two knuckles are going to strike, not like this…it’s straight okay it’s going to shoot out from your set position and punch straight to the nose, okay that was forward thrust punch.
