Roundhouse Block in Koden Kan Martial Arts
Hi! I’m Madison Warner and I’m a Black Belt in Karate, I’m been teaching for over 10 years and I study in Michael M. Foley system of Koden Kan Karate-do, if you’d like to hear more about us and our style you can go to h2hctc.com or mellei.com. Today I’m going to show you roundhouse block, you’re going to start in your kiba dachi stance, nice and low, knees bent, hands up here and this block you can think of as more of a strike, it’s going to feel like you’re doing a punch, you’re going to turn your feet at a 45 degree angle like this…which turns your body a little bit and you’re going to rotate your arm so that your back of your fist is facing behind you, okay block…and so this time you’re also blocking a kick or a strike coming into your body or leg area. You’re going to block this way…so this is just a faster way to get this block there then some of the others, you’re going to bring it straight down like that…and your arm angle should make your leg angle and you also want it over the knee you want plenty of space between your arm and your leg, okay and that was roundhouse block.
