How to Do a Pike
Hi, I'm Shyra from Excel Rebels in Orlando Lakes, Florida. I'm going to be doing advanced cheer leading on behalf of Expert Village. The next jump I'm going to teach is the pike jump. This is also considered an advanced jump. A lot of teams use this in their jump sequence combinations. This jumps going to be done to the side and it can be turned to the right side or the left side. You can start in either clasp position or you can start in a high V. Usually they start in a clasp because it looks better from the side. So in this jump, your arms are going to come down, also to your knees just like in the other jumps. They swing around and your arms are going to come here to a front position. Your legs, both right and left legs, are going to be sitting in a pike position. So in the jump, you should hit your jump in this position. You should try and round your back out because if you're sitting straight up, your legs are going to come up and probably knock you over backwards. So you kind of try to round your back out. Then your arms and your legs both come down to your side at the same time. So in this jump, you're going to come here. Then your arms are up and then you hit straight down. I'm going to demonstrate the jump for you.
