Hi my name is Sarah and I’m coming to you from Petland in Pinborough Pines, Florida today and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I am going to speak with you today about how to buy a pet bird. One other thing to consider when you are thinking about adding a bird to the household is whether or not everyone in the household is comfortable with having a bird. Some people; may not be comfortable with birds and it is very important that you consider their feelings about it when considering bringing a bird into the house. In situations where one person enjoys having the bird in the house and the other person is afraid of the bird, many larger birds will actually pick up on that and can sometimes terrorize certain family members. This is never a good situation because then you have a bird that is not acting appropriately in the household. There have actually been instances where birds were given up and had to have other homes found for them because one situation I heard about was where a couple owned a cockatoo and the cockatoo would actually climb down off the cage, chase the wife around the house and terrorize her and the husband some how thought it was amusing. Obviously that bird was not acting appropriately and did not receive proper training when it was younger.
