How to Give a Nuero-Muscular Calf Massage

Welcome back to Expert Village. We are still in the technique of warming up the leg. This is a very I guess technical part of it. What I mean is you have to really really feel your way in this one. This is the one that I call nuero-muscular technique. So what you want to do is you really really want to feel you want to have your thumb on like what I call the shin area. Then you want to feel for where the muscle kind of separates the gastrocnemius which is the big belly of the muscle. You want to kind of feel where it separates. Then what you want to is do kind of like in a downward motion like a it is almost like one finger after the other. One finger after the other. That is very good for the nerves. The reason I call it nuero-muscular is because muscles are trigger by nerves. So if I'm able to really grab on to the muscle and I make this type of movement and this kind of one after the other, one after the other. It triggers the muscles to contract. Now you are not really trying to make the client contract while you are doing the massage but in this case you want them to. Because a lot of time you use this pressure which means they can not move their muscles or their muscles are really really weak. So you want to kind of trigger it. You kind of want to irritate it. So it is kind of like you are nagging, you are nagging the muscles on. You are grabbing on it and you are going down all the way to the tendon. So try to grab as much of the belly as you can and go down towards the tendon.
