How to Repair a Leaking Ceiling

My is Shannon Kniep, I am speaking on behalf of Expert Village. Talking about a sheet-rock damage ceiling today. We have some water leaks in this. So we've gonna have to get up there and put in new sheet-rock. What I'm gonna do first by way of preparation is cover everything that is important. Like lamp shades or anything in the room that could be damaged. Sheet-rock has a lot of dust that goes with it. So, we want to make sure everything is secure that could be potentially damaged by this is especially important for things like computers and anything electronic. O.K we have sort of an odd shape a hole here because the way it had to be cut out. So what we're gonna have to do, we're gonna have to create a square dimension in order to get a new piece in. Because we can never match all of that different thing. So, I'm gonna use a tape measure and find that this dimension is about 16 1/2 this one on this side is about, looks about 16 1/2 almost. So, we're about the same thickness this way but, the important thing is that I have to be on on a joiced, I can't have the sheet-rock just floating in mid air. So, I'm gonna have to cut back a line so that I'm on the center of the joiced so I'll have something to nail the old piece and the new piece too. Same thing over here. So what gonna do to create my line is use what's called a chalk box. This is great because it snaps perfectly straight and we will get a perfectly straight cut. So going here to here just pull it straight down and we got a perfect straight line. Now all of the rest of the cuts will come off of this straight edge.
