Required Shipping Documents for Trade
This is Nikolai Pankratz with American Resource Network for Expert Village. So we've talked about the letters of credit and what goes into it, and the, and, and the different, the list of documentation that come with a shipment. But say for example you're dealing with one of the countries that you're not sure about. Say the Black Sea, here or whatever, where we already covered the fact that the quality of some of the goods might not be to your anticipation or might not be what you want. And you want to make sure that the quality is good. Well there's international organizations that issue a certificate that actually go to the site and they will inspect the goods on your behalf. And will issue a certificate for those goods. So that way you're reassured that the quality of the goods is according to what you, you've agreed to. A packing list is going to be part of the documentation that will go, it's a whole stack of documents, we've already talked inspection certificates. And obviously import permits is something that we discussed earlier and we took wood as an example. Where you went to the USDA and you got the right permits for importing goods to the, to America. Bill of Lady is probably the most important document. And basically what the Bill of Lady is, it will show to the bank that the goods are actually on board and they're moving along the coast, or the ocean and are on their way here. So once those documents arrive in America at the bank, I'm just going over the list. Basically, oh the Certificate of Origin, that is very important because the American government requests that. And that's why you see when you go to any store in America, there's a little stamp on the toy or whatever "Made in China" or whatever, you know the laws require that. So a Certificate of Origin is, is very important. So now you've got the sets of documents and the banks, bank inspected, everything is according to, to, to what you've agreed to, and they release the funds. And everybody's happy. And obviously now that the first transaction went through, you've gained yourself a good partner, hopefully in another country and you can relax a little bit more. And establish all kinds of Internet connections, FTPs, etcetera, where you can enter his computer, he can enter your computer, you can look at different things. Basically trust has been established. I hope that's what's going to happen after you get through these first steps and make sure, and, and, and get something under your belt.
