Welcome back. Hi, I'm Jim Leske, animal trainer and behaviorist with Expert Village. We're here today to talk about pet rescue, and here with me I have my good friend, Simone, from Pet Mania in Burbank, and she's here to talk to us a little bit about rescuing dogs and cats. Hi, Simone, good to see you. Thanks for helping us out. Thanks, Jim. Hi, I'm Simone from Pet Mania in Burbank, and I have nearly rescued 15,000 animals over the past 13 years here in Los Angeles, and I can only tell everybody how important it is to rescue a life versus actually going out to breeders and buying a purebred dog or a purebred cat. Our experience and with all the animals we have rescued and adopted, I mean they were loyal purebreds and wonderful dogs, and most of them are without any problems. Having the pet store, I do get a lot of calls from people who want to get rid of their animals for whatever reason. Unfortunately, though, I can't take them all and most of them do end up in the animal shelter. Other calls I get almost daily are from people who are looking for a purebred cat or dog to buy. I always discourage people from doing that and tell them to go on sites like Petfinder or go to their local animal shelters and actually find the perfect pet. I'm in contact with a lot of my customers who have adopted from me and turned out they were all wonderful wonderful pets. People like me try to guide people. You know, I do offer a service where I do go with people to the shelter or find the perfect pet. I mean they can tell me what they are looking for and I will go there and find that animal for them, if they are not, you know, a lot of people are afraid to go to the shelters themselves. That's basically all I can say. Please rescue, rescue, rescue, because there are so many millions of unwanted animals being euthanized for no reason, and they are all perfect and healthy and wonderful.
