Tools for Changing Spark Plugs

Hi, this is John from Expertvillage.com. In this video clip, I will be showing you the proper tools for changing and/or replacing spark plugs. The first tool is a 3/8 inch ratchet. The next tool is a 3/8 inch extension and this will help me reach the spark plugs if they are deep in the engine. I am also going to be using 5/8 inch socket and this socket you will notice has a rubber insert and it is actually called a spark plug socket, that rubber insert will help hold the spark plug. So, that when you pull it out, the spark plug will be stuck inside of it. Next, I have a wire brush and will be using this to clean the spark plug. Once we clean the spark plug with the wire brush, we are going to want to make sure we use the brake parts cleaner to clean any debris away and I would like to have a bucket of some sort to get any over spray. Once we clean our spark plug, we are going to have to make sure we gap it and this is a spark plug gapping tool that any auto parts dealer should have and during the entire procedure, I will make sure that I am using a shop light, so that I can see everything and other tools are compressed air so that I can clean out the parts.
