Parts of a Spark Plug
Hi this is John from Expertvillage.com. In this video clip I will be talking about the different parts of a spark plug. When we take a look at the different parts of a spark plug, the main components are the terminal, which is at the end, you have your insulator, which is made of ceramic. There is a hex nut and this is where you will put the socket on to help you put it into the engine. The reach is the distance of the threads or the distance that it will stick into your engine. Down towards the bottom here, we have our air gap and the air gap is how far the ground electrode, which is this bottom piece is before it touches the center electrode, which is in the center there. So air gap is the amount of space between a center electrode and a ground electrode. Here you can see the air gap just a little bit better.
