How to Play a Polka Drum Beat

PAT LOUIS: On behalf Expert Village, I'm Pat Louis in Miami, Florida. And today, I'm going to show you some basic drum rhythms. One of the classic dances of all times of course is the polka. People love the polka, I guess because everybody can get into it. It is also one-two-three kind of a song, but it's actually you done it with the two beat feel. This can also be country. That is simply this. That's all is to it. if you're doing a polka or you're doing a country song either way. For instance country song, "on the road again, I just cant wait to get on the road again" or tararantan, tararantan, tararantantantarantan, tararantantantarantan, pam, pam, pam, pam. pam, pam. so either way you have a two beat feel and that can be used for your country song like "On the Road" and a whole bunch of others as well as any other polka song. When somebody request a polka, you know that that beats coming up is that two beats, the bass drum on one-two-three-four and the off beat on the snare and the high hat. One, two, three, four, one-and, two-and, three-and, four-and, one-and, two-and, three-and, four-and here is your beat for polka or any country song.
