One of my favorite fruits is a tomato. Yes a tomato is a fruit because it has seeds. Same thing with an avocado. It has a seed. It's a fruit. I like to choose tomatoes that are vine ripened because then they're very fragrant, they usually have more chance to ripen on the vine and they're going to yield you a better fruit. To cut a tomato, I prefer using a serrated edge knife because a lot of times tomatoes can be tough. So my tip is to cut the top to get rid of the stem and the bottom so again I have a flat surface so things aren't rolling away on me. I'm going to take my tomato, I'm going to half it and I'm just going to make beautiful quarters, nice and thin. Which you can use for a salad or for a display. If I want to chop it for say a sauce, I'm going to flip it over on its side and I'm going to cut lots of cuts through it, pivot it over and I'm going to make nice little chunks. This will make a nice consistent look for say a bruschetta which I have a great recipe for, you may have already seen. Or you can add it into as a final touch on top of salads. It makes a nice garish. There you go. Tomatoes, a fruit. believe it or not.
