Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village. I'm going to show you some techniques that I use to properly care for my horses feet. Now, we'll want to tie our horse to groom her. If you do happen to have a barn, you can cross tie your horse. Basically, what a cross tie is, is it is a chain on either side of the aisle that will clip to these D rings on the halter so your horse can stand in the center of the aisle so that you can groom her. Now, we don't have that situation right here so we're going to just tie her to this fence. You want to make sure before you do this, that your horse is a horse that will tie because otherwise you are going to have one that pulls back and it's going to end up being an ugly situation. So you want to make sure that before you attempt doing something like this that your horse is willing to tie and stand. So, what we are going to do is we are just going to take our lead rope and we are going to loop it over the fence rail here. We are going to make sure we tie her pretty close. We don't want her to have a lot of slack because we don't want her to be able to get down there to eat grass or we don't too much line so she can get tangled in it. So we are just going to loop our lead line around here. We are just going to take the loop, we are going to cross it over here and we are just going to pull it through like that, so it's just a quick release. If we have to undo it really quick, if she starts to spook and pull away, we can undo it in a really quick fashion. So we are just going to take this, loop it through and just do a real quick release like that. So that way, if she does happen to spook it will be able to be undone really easily so that she won't get tangled in the fence or end up ripping down the fence and dragging the rail with her. So, that's how you want to tie your horse.
