Questions & AnswersSo now that we've found our first two frets on the instrument we can go ahead and find our next two. And what you want to do is start on the fret that you just marked, your second fret, and then find the octave again on the third string. And now you'll have two more. So you have this fret, your fourth fret, which you can mark off, and this fret right here which you can mark off. And now you have your first four frets and you can do our first exercise. So we're going up chromatically. Those are all the twelve notes from here to here, right? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. And then you're back at the one again. And what that does is you have one, two, four and then you move and setup for the next position and then you go back one, two, four, setup, one, two, or open, one, two, four, setup, open, one, two, four, setup, open, one, two, four, setup, open, one, two, four, setup. So, you're hitting all the notes and it prepares you to start moving around the bass and it also gets you used to moving around in this lower area which we are going to concentrate on for this whole lesson.
