How to Play "Sabotage" by Beastie Boys

Hey this is Joe Wiles for the Rock and Roll Conservatory on behalf of Expert Village. We're going to tackle "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys. This is a really easy one and it's a lot of fun. Let's take a look. It basically starts, we're going to drop your whole tuning down a half a step. So you get D sharp, G sharp, C sharp, F sharp, A sharp and D sharp again on our strings. Then in addition to that we're going to drop our low E string down to a drop would be a C sharp tuning. It sounds like this. tune your guitars to that. Cool ? This song starts on the seventh fret. This is a power chord in the seventh tuning. Seventh fret is bar three. One, two, three. O.k that's the first opening phrase of the, or that's the first opening chord of the song. 3,4,5,6,7,8. 2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Then we hit it twice. Now when we start doing the doubles, we're going to alternate between the doubles and a harmonic on the fifth fret of the A string o.k. In context it sounds like this. 3,4,5,6,7,8. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Nothing to it. That's a fun one and you can do a lot with it. In our last segment we're going to look at "Reptilia" by The Strokes. See you there.
