I was wondering what you're talking about.
Hey this Joe Wiles with the Rock and Roll Conservatory on behalf of Expert Village. in this segment we're talking about Metallica's "One". It's a really simple riff. It's one of those riffs that when you play it no matter where you are everybody knows what you're playing. Let's take a look at the guitar. The riff starts here on your A string on the second fret with your index finger. Then we're going to use our ring finger on the fourth fret of the D string. That's basically the form we're going to keep through the rest of the intro piece. Now as we pick we're going to go A string, D string, A string then we're going to lift up our ring finger and let that D string ring open. Again that looks like this. Alright then we're going to bring our middle finger down to the third fret of the low E string and instead of playing that second fret A string we're going to substitute that. It looks like this. Alternate between those two little patterns. Now this second time you go to the G note here, throw in this open G string. After that we're going to modify the progression a little but. It looks like this. We're going to go from here as our base note, open base note, here as our base note. Then we're going to wrap it up by going open then two on the A string, move that whole bit up. Second fret E string fourth fret A string and start it over o.k. Slowly it sounds like this. Then where you set it over. To speed that sounds like this. And you just repeat that for a bit. Run that through a few times, give it some practice. It's a really cool riff. In our next segment we're going to talk about a really easy one, "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys. See you there.
