Hey, this is Joe Wiles with the Rock and Roll Conservatory on behalf of expert village. We're going to talk about barracuda by Heart. Let's go to guitar and take a look. Now we are in standard tuning, E, A, D, G, B, E. This song starts off with an open E power cord. Open E, second fret A, second fret D. I have them both with my index finger. Your going to do a technique called palm muting, that?s when you lay the back end of the blade-edge of your hand against the strings, here, towards the bridge. It creates a muted thudding sound, as opposed to an open ringing sound. We're going to open up without the palm muting and then bring the palm mute down. Then we're going to bring our power cord up to the second fret second fret E with our index, fourth fret A with our ring, fourth fret on the D with our pinkie. Then slide all those up one more. And the other thing we've got to do is in a harmonic on the twelfth fret, the highest four strings. If you're not familiar with what harmonics are go do an internet search because I don't have time to explain it now, but basically you do the harmonic on the twelfth fret of these four, then you do a harmonic on the fifth fret with these four. If you have a whammy bar give it a little shake. Slowly it sounds like this. Now to speed, it simply sounds like this. Now that?s a really simple rift like most rock and roll rifts complicity is part of the appeal. Practice that a few times. In the next segment we're going to talk about Bulls On Parade by Rage Against The Machine, I'll see you there.
Straight forward and concise. Joe has a smooth delivery, not like the guy showing AC/DC "You Shook Me All Night Long", he is too fragmented. Kudos Joe!
