Hi! I’m Branson Garner on behalf of expertvillage.com. Today we’re going to be talking about the bass and the parts of the bass. Lets start at the top here. On the top, we have the scroll, on the top of the base; you can tell because it looks like a scroll here. Then if you go down here, you have the pegs, the tuning pegs, which are used to tune the bass. And inside the other tuning machines, you may notice that this is a little bit different from just a violin peg, because the strings are so thick, you need gears to turn them. You go down we have the neck, the fingerboard, which is mostly made of rosewood. The bass itself, this bass is a plywood bass, and some other more expensive basses you would use higher end woods to do that. As we go down, we have the F holes, which make it so we can hear the bass at a loud nice tone. Then we have the bridge and the strings rest upon that. Then we go down, and we have the tailpiece and then the endpin, which is adjustable to the player’s height. As you can see, the bass consists of lot of different parts, and altogether they come to make this amazing instrument.
