Hello my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village today about hemorrhoids and in particular I'm going to talk to you about ways to alleviate the pain that you experience when you are getting hemorrhoids. Now in this clip we are going to talk about how to lift weights and how not to lift weights because when you have hemorrhoids you do not want to increase the pressure on the hemorrhoids themselves, the veins that supply the blood to the hemorrhoids, by bending over or doing lots of heavy lifting because that would actually put you at risk of bursting the hemorrhoids or making the symptoms worse. Here are the suggestions. My first suggestion is that when you have severe hemorroids you should actually not to any heavy lifting you should ask a friend or family member to help you lift. If you do have to do any heavy lifting there is a proper way to actually lift heavy weights. Pretend this is a heavy box. What you do is you don't bend over like this, you need to bend with your knees so you still have the upright posture with the back and you are actually bending here so a lot of the weight is on your knees instead of on your back where you hemorrhoids are. Then you can bend to the level and pick up the item like this and then stand up straight and that is how you actually lift the weight. Now when it comes to exercising in the gym when you actually have hemorrhoids, the thing is don't try to lift as much as you normally do when you don't have hemorrhoids. If you do go and you want to lift weights, here we have some weights here so do the same thing. Instead of bending over like that you need to do it from the knees. Bend again from the level of the knees and once again reach over and with both hands then straighten up and keep your body as straight as possible. Try to decrease the amount of pressure and compression of your body on that area which is around the anus and the rectum area, the lower part of your torso where the hemorrhoids. So these are just some suggestions that you can do to decrease the pain and also from making the hemorrhoids worse.
