What Are Hemorrhoids?

Hello my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village today I am going to talk to you about hemorrhoids. How hemorrhoids are formed, what causes them and how you can find some relief from hemorrhoids. Now let's go and find the definition of hemorrhoids. What is a hemorrhoid? The definition is that there is increased pressure around the veins of the anus region. So if we go over here you can see I actually have a pictorial diagram of the lower half of the anus region and this would be the colon. Here's the bladder here. This is a female picture. A side view. And here is anus region because this is the sphincter muscle right here and this is your colon. So most hemorrhoids are actually formed around this region here. External hemorrhoids or you can also get internal hemorrhoids because there are veins and vessels that blood vessels actually supply this region. So in the next clip I am going to actually show you how a hemorrhoid is formed.
