The Skinning Knife: Basic Knife Care

Next we have what is called a skinning knife. As you will notice, the blade is not quite as pointed as most knives are. This is used to prevent puncturing of the hide of the animal that you may be skinning. This is primarily used for hunters where they will kill an animal and want to skin the hide out from the animal. This is used for paring away the flesh away from the hide. This is the primary use for this knife and any knife that you see that is shaped like this is primarily set up for skinning.
