How to Sharpen a Knife: Basic Knife Care

Hi! This is John and now we are going to be talking about sharpening a knife and how to correctly do it. A knife is just nothing but an expensive paperweight if it doesn’t have a good edge on the blade. One of the things that can be very useful is a tool that I have here that has little sharpening sticks that are embedded into the tool itself. What you will need to do is just use this skinning knife. Take and put this on a flat edge right here just like that, and then pull that toward you just in a smooth motion, time after time. Consistency is what you are after, because you want the blade always to be at the same angle we pass through here. You need to do this on a regular basis also not just for your knives but also your scissors that you use to keep them sharp.
