How to Pick Area Rugs

VICTOR FEGHALI: Hi. This is Victor for ExpertVillage.com, and we're here at Foothill Carpet to show you how to buy carpet for your home. These are area rugs and they are used normally to go on top of a hard surface, whether it's tile or wood. Wintertime, especially, it's better to cut--it makes it warmer to lay an area rug down, and they come in every size. You have area rugs from 2 x 4 up to 11 x 20. I mean you can cover a large room with an area rug. So it depends on the room size. They make runners to go on hallways, so it's--you know, if you have a hallway that has wood and wintertime it's cooler with the wood, you want to warm it up a little bit, you would put an area rug down; and then summertime, remove it. And a lot of people like to use area rugs in dining rooms, under the table or under a coffee table. They add a lot of decor to the room, and they come in every color. And you have area rugs made from anywhere, from machine-made polypropylene to handmade silk, and there's a huge price difference. I mean you can get a 4 x 6 area rug for $30, all the way up to $250,000 for the silk ones. So it's a very wide variety of styles, and if it's manmade, machine-made, handmade, all kinds, so there's unlimited options on area rugs.
