Self defense video: wrist grabs
Getting away from somebody that’s grabbing at you is really scary. I mean if somebody’s trying to grab you and take you somewhere where you don’t want to go or hold you down the psychological make up that’s going on right now is going to dump adrenaline into your blood and make fine motor skills very difficult. What I want you to think about is what you want to accomplish by getting away, you don’t want to just thrash and flail around. Notice that this is the wide part of the arm and if I pull it gives him a lot more to hold on to especially if he’s much bigger than I am. But turning the wrist so that the small part, the idea is to not become scared and jerk away. That’s going to only excite them and make them want to hold onto you more or try to get an even better grip on you than they had before.
