Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that you could use when performing transitions in the English style of riding. So the next transition we are going to do is we are going to break down from our canter to our halt. So as we have her going here in a canter, what we are going to do is sit deep. We are going to pull back and we are going to say whoa and we going to tell her to stop. So again sit deep, pull back, say whoa. You may find that your horse is not as quite as responsive or has a more of a tendency to kind of run through the bit a little bit. So when you pull back instead of your horse stopping, it would keep going. So what you want to do then is actually keep pulling until you get your horse to stop and actually get your horse to back up. It is kind of a punishment for not stopping the first time that you asked. The more that you do that the more the horse would understand that stopping is a lot easier then backing. So again one last time what we are going to do is sit deep, say whoa and pull back. So that is how you want to break your horse down from the canter to the halt.
