Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that you could use when performing transitions in the English style of riding. So now the next transition we are going to do is we are going to move from the halt up to the canter. So this takes a lot of balance for your horse cause it is moving from a dead stop to a much quicker gait. So what we are going to do is we are going to get her a little collected here. Make sure that she is rounding on her back. We are going to apply left leg pressure, I'm going to give her a squeeze and a kiss and have her move off to a canter. So again apply the left leg, give a squeeze and have her go off to a canter. So you might find when you are first doing this with your horse if your horse is not really well balanced and it does not have a lot of lift, it is harder for your horse to lift to that. You may get a few trial steps in between. But just keep persevering at it, just keep doing it and your horse would eventually would get it. You can even back up just a couple of steps and then go back to your halt. Just to get your horse lifting. That is how you would want to go from your halt into your canter.
