Overview of Playing Castanets

Hi! Thank you for visiting expertvillage.com. My name is Yvette Parrish. It does work really pretty when you have a group, but you can do them by yourself as well. Remember that is how you practice with the right hand pinkie, always start with the pinkie first 1, 2, 3, 4… 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 so this is always your heartbeat… you are not getting real fancy with the left one. The right one is where you do all the work. So once you get the hang of it and once you get the castanets that fit your hand which is very important, learn how tight you like them. Like I said I like to go a little bit tighter and then loosen them up as I am playing. If you start to loose it will just falling off your fingers. So practice a little bit with them, how to put them on, how you like the feel if the size is the right size for the palm of your hand, think about the sounds… the deeper sound is always going to be the left hand… and that is the castanets…
