How to Prepare Your Lesson Plans While Teaching in Thailand

Hi my name's Sean Graham on behalf of Expert Village, sponsored by goturkery.com. Hi, in this segment, what I want to talk about is lesson planning. Now this one being the detailed lesson plan you're school might require, but just a day to day lesson plan for you. Now if you get into the routine of doing this, the lesson plan, you're classes will always be fun and they'll run smoothly. So what I intend to do is this. I mark out ten minutes. Ten minutes to begin. Now in the beginning of my class, I might do, if I have the facilities, I might do karaoke. Now what I tend to do, on a Monday, is start with a new karaoke, which gives my children the whole week to lean the song. Then on Friday we'll have a singing contest in their teams. So we do the karaoke, or we can start with a warm up game. A warm up game might be a spelling activity. I play a game that's called "pat and rub". Pat and rub is where I take a word that I want the children to spell, and then individually I will point to a student, and they have to give me the first letter of the word. Point to the next student; they give me the second letter. The third student gives me the third letter. If they get it wrong, then they have to pat their head, rub their stomach. Then we have to start all over again until the children spell the word correctly. Now this is a great activity because each and every child has to think of the next letter to that word. Otherwise they will have to stand up, pat their head and rub their stomach. So it gets the word into their head. The next part would be ten minutes in vocab. Now these ten minutes I'll explain the vocab of the day. Maybe we're doing nationality, so I'll explain the difference between nationality and where you come from. Being from Thailand and being Thai. Next ten minutes, then, I'll do a speaking activity, where I ask each and every child to stand up, tell me what their nationality is. What is their friend's nationality? Where are they from? After that, next ten minutes, might be a worksheet. Do a worksheet for ten minutes, and once they finish the worksheet I have forty minutes of our fifty minute class completed. The last ten minutes will be a game. This could be any kind of a game: hangman, word game, whatever. Ok, thank you.
