Digitizing Illustrations for a Children's Book
Hi! I’m Angela Sage Larsen. On behalf of expertvillage.com, today, we’re going to talk about publishing your own children’s story. Please visit my web site at petalwinkthefairy.com. There are a couple of different options for digitizing your illustrations. From my book, Petalwink Learns to Fly, I used both options. They are first of all, scanning, which is what I was able to do with this illustration, which is what I did with all of the illustrations on the inside of the book because they were an appropriate size and they fit on a scanner. When they’re scanned, they’re usually a drum roll, which means that the page needs to be flexible. If for some reason your artwork is big to get to be scanned or as in the case of the cover that I designed, it’s not flexible and it’s a board, then a digital picture can be taken. You definitely want to taken it to a professional photographer who can take it for you digitally, because you don’t want to lose any of the quality or any of the color. In either case, whether a scanned or a photo is taken, you want the highest resolution possible.
