Self defense video: frontal choke
Choking is very dangerous and very very serious. Cutting off the oxygen and blood flow to the brain only gives you a few moments to react. Bringing the hands in, this natural movement to save myself and pulling down will allow this to go through will give me a few more moments to enact some other movement to get away. Remember you only have a short period of time so use quick motions, big muscles, to help release this. Even if the person is bigger than me and has much longer reach. Of course if I have the same distance I can start hitting him, striking into these areas to help get away. But if I’m laying down or up against the wall, or the situation’s a little bit different, coming in close is the best thing. Someone choking you from behind, coming up it doesn’t matter which way I turn but I want to get those hands off my throat. Also, put myself in a position so that I can do something else and get away.
