How to Inspect the Water Pipe in Your Shower

Hi, I'm Adolph Ramirez from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, today I'll show you how to clean a shower head. Okay, once the shower head is off, let's inspect the pipe. Make sure there's no corrosion on the inside. Make sure that the thread is not cross-threaded or anything like that and is in good shape. Now what you want to do is now remove all this tape before we can go ahead and do anything else. First, also, you can also check the water pressure by turning on your water. If the water comes out really soft...now that kind of water flow, we know that the problem is maybe not an obstruction of the pipe or anything like that. So again, that leads me to believe that it is the shower head itself that is losing the pressure. So, all you need to do is just take a brush and remove what you can first. This is just the old Teflon tape. We are going to go ahead and remove this. And if there's any residue, then you can just use the wire brush. That's going to take off and remove that residue. That one's giving me a hard time. So what I'll do is, I'll just use the scribe and get in the thread there to see if I can pull out that little bit. There we go. Just remove all of this residue, and that's it. The pipe is in very good shape. It's ready to go. And now we can go ahead and start working on the head itself.
