How to Adjust Oil Pump Pickup Depth

Hi, I'm Doug, I work with twenty great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. Now we've done the custom oil pan and the custom oil pump, oil pump pickup. Now we want to make sure it clears the oil pan, we have the right clearance there, nice and close to the pan. So he's putting some strip caulk on there just to clearance it. We could use any goop you want, play-dough, silly putty, just something there to take up the space and hold the shape of how the close the oil pan touches. If the oil pan is pushing on the pickup that's a bad idea. If it's real far away that's a bad idea, you want it to be nice and close so it's always buried deep in oil when you go to run the engine.
