How to Remove an Engine Oil Pump & Windage Plate

Hi I'm Dough. I work with 20 great guys in Saint Lois at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods. We are going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. Now Mark is removing the windage tray, every engine of various designs has plates installed or trays and little doors and stuff. So that the crank shaft splashes a little bit of oil, but it doesn't turn it to foam, it keeps it protected a little bit. This windage plate here won't fit with the new oil pan, so that's why he s removing it. You can see it sits on little stands there, to keep the distance just right. We are also going to have to remove the oil pump because we are to put in a different pick up, a front sump oil pan instead of this rear sump style. That shaft there on the end of the oil pump is the drive shaft, you can see the cut in the end of it, that's driven by the
