How to Unpack a New Engine

Hi I'm Doug. I work with twenty great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods, and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. Alright it's Christmas time now. We've un-crated the engine and done away with all the wood. We need to get the plastic out of there. More than just unwrapping the package, Mark is checking everything as he pulls it all out there. You'll see inspection tags here. Tags come on a brand new engine that describe exactly the model that the engine is, and you'll need that stuff to get the right parts for it. You can see this has a regular iron fly wheel on it for a standard shift. We're putting this in an automatic car, so he needs to check that parts tag so that we get the right flex plate for it. It comes wrapped in that oil soaked paper to keep everything from rusting.
