Now we're going to walk through a jazz head, and now, you're going to see the problem that we experience right now when I try to walk two measures. So we go through, right, we got four beats each. One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, so I got to the one too early. So what jazz cats do is they just add in a chromatic note, now I can add it in anywhere, but I'm going to add it in this fret here, and you'll see how much hipper it sounds. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, one, one, seven, six, five, four... see this time I added in this one, right? So, by going through and just walking up and down that major scale, and you can do that for hours and hours and hours, and just really get that groove down, and make sure after eight beats you always land on F, either this F or this F. And you can go move around and move back and forth and this will give you really a strong basic background for walking through chord changes, and then when you go and actually open a tune to try and walk through it, you already have all these bass lines and ideas under your fingers.
