What to look for in a self defense instructor
If you’re e thinking about getting into a martial arts program or self defense class I want you to think about what your goals are and what you want to get from it. Whether you’re just looking at it for fitness or whether you just want to learn self defense if you’re in a profession position where that’s necessary like security or police force or military. Or if you just want to do some type of activity that’s cool and different from anything else that you’ve come across or any other type of sport. All martial arts have to offer are going to be something a little bit different what you want to do is look for is a good teacher. Somebody that you know that you can work with and have a good repose with. You don’t want to work with someone that makes you feel uncomfortable or speaks in a way that you feel is demeaning or intimidating. Also, you don’t want an instructor that you don’t feel is taking you seriously or taking the subject matter seriously. It all comes down to the instructor. Try not to spend too much time on the style or the type of martial art or where the martial art comes from because in the end it all comes down to if you enjoy it and does it work.
