Hi, I'm Allen and welcome to Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to build your very own personal computer. So what are some of the advantages to building you own computer? Well, the biggest is definately saving money and hey, who doesn't like to save money these days, right? I even got to pay three dollars a gallon plus for gas. Someone wants to save money. Now of course you can look at systems that are built on these other company websites that are about three hundred dollars or so, but when you look at the components and you compare it to what you want, its not going to be that price. Now, high-end systems go for nine hundred dollars plus, but as myself, I built a quad core system (which is a new Intel) and I think total was like six hundred dollars and this is for everything. Tons of memory, tons of drive space, everything. Now the other thing that's a huge advantage is being able to upgrade your system. Take for example, buy one of those systems from one of those big name companies, good luck upgrading something like that. I worked for one of the tech centers at a local computer shop for about two years or so and upgrading those systems was a major pain. Either you had to buy proprietary parts for it or certain things wouldn't fit, there was no upgrade slots, it was a major, major pain. Now if you buy your own system and your own components, you know whats in it, you know what its capable of and you know how to upgrade it, big, big plus. So the biggest thing and an advantage to building your own system is you know what you're going to get and save the money of course. But once you determine what you want to do, you want to do video editing or high-end gaming, things like that, or if you're just going to be editing web pages or something, you know what system really is going to be best for you and you can figure it out and build that system online, maybe on one of those sites and see what they come up with a price and then build it maybe more powerful or as close to the same as one of those systems and see the price that you come up with. Now most likely, you are going to save a good amount of money. Of course you have your time that you're going to have to spend building it and if its a first time of course you're going to have some troubleshooting things but, you've done this for a while and like me, its really something that means a lot to you because you know that you built that system and that system is your baby and that is the overall advantage. Being able to save money and also knowing your system inside and out, what it can do, what its capable of and that's why we want to build your very own personal PC.
