How to Texture Hair with Thinning Scissors: Part 2

Hi I?m Chris Faircloth artistic director and co-owner of Salon Teez for Expert Village this is how to trim women?s hair. Back combing is not only for the particular shear, or the straight edge shear, we can also use our blending shears or our thinning shears. In creating a back combing effect or a back cutting effect the same way. This time we'll use a diagonal section. Combing the hair out making sure our finger are parallel to our section. This time I?ll actually be closing the entire blade on the head form, but as I move back I?m closing my shears as I move towards the head form. As opposed to just staying stationary in one place and cutting across. This gives us different lengths and a different type of texturing effect. We still have the short to long pieces in there but you notice that we have short to long here and we still have some longer pieces throughout the head form. This way it gives us some nice movement and its great to to use for those clients that like to have their hair come towards their face. So by using a diagonal section and doing a type of back combing effect with our blending, and our thinning shears it creates that movement because the hair that?s longer here tends to push this hair towards the front. And the shorter hair tends to push as well and provide a sense of support structure towards the face.
