Types of Acupuncture Needles: Free Online Guide to Alternative Medical Treatment

There are many types of acupuncture with needles and just like any modality; acupuncture has lots of tools depending on what style of acupuncture you study. There’s quite a few styles around. Most people in the United States study what’s coming out of modern China, and they use stainless steel needles like this just to give you an idea of the size. They’re very thin, and as you can see really flexible. If you’re going to use this on a patient you would never touch it. They’re stainless steel, single use disposable needles. It would just be inserted a tiny bit. Some other types of modern acupuncture use Japanese styles, like this one is a very very fine, you can see it’s pretty soft, solid silver needle. This needle is actually just touched to points, just held against the points, it doesn’t actually penetrate the skin and it works just as well and the patient actually usually can’t even feel it. For patients who are extremely sensitive or very very afraid of needles, this is another type of Japanese needle, as you can see it has a little ball at the end. This is just touched and held to a point. This can actually be an effective treatment for people who are weak or for little children. Japanese also have some special needles, like this is a solid gold needle, as you can see it’s pretty thick. It’s not actually used to penetrate the skin it’s just pressed against the skin. The Japanese actually have created an awful lot of neutrals. I do a little bit of work with children, and with children they’re very sensitive. As you can imagine with a baby, they’re sensory their sense of tense is very high and it doesn’t take very much to get their energy moving and to stimulate them. So typically I use something like this, just a smooth edge tool I just brush a long in radiance. That alone can be used to reduce fever, or help with bronchitis or stop pink eye without using any medications or herbs. Some of the other tools, like this one, are a little rougher um just a little stronger stimulation and this one can be used to press against the point. Or this one has a little bit of a rough edge, like a rake to scrape against the point and this is one of the stronger ones of the group.
