This is Steve “The Dragon” Jimenez along with Heath Jones. In this segment we are going to go over another edge weapon attack. This attack is going to be a forward busting stabbing motion. From here one of the things you always make sure add a body defense in this technique. If you don’t add the body defense with the initial defense then you may be redirecting the weapon into a different part of your body. Let us just assume right now he is going to the center mass… to the center of my body and I am going to show you and demonstrate why you must use a body defense. So from now here my hands are going to be up in a ready stance now… a lot of times when it is a forward thrust the person already has a weapon out. So I am here like this my hand is up, he goes forward and I redirect here by using my arm. Now from here although I do a slight body defense by turning my body my weight is forward down here. Its here and it is strong. So when he goes to recoil I am going to go in with him. So from here I go one and I touch the arm. Notice when I have this defense here my elbow is down pointing to the ground. I have a law here. If I leave my elbow up like this all he has got to do is slice underneath my arm and cut me through. When I catch the arm right here, this is just for grabs it is not a whole. So when he goes to pull back he pulls me in with him so I still have some type of control. So I am going to have control by grabbing the wrist keeping my arm down so he does try to slice through, he can’t my arm is there, its in the way. By this time I am striking and punching at the same time. So here from here little slow defend and another time I turn my body. If I don’t do that, if I do not turn my body he comes in. I will just do this and redirect him to another part of my body. So now watch here, I make a redirection, notice how the body is, now the body is not on the way of the weapon. Grab, he pulls in, that’s what he is going to naturally do when he pulls in I come in with the strike holding on to his wrist. Strike, strike and strike forward. From here kick to the groin come up and turn the wrist over. Always want to mirror the hand, always want to have good control. Here is a thing, he has control of the weapon by gripping this way. While having a grip this is how we hold to have control of the weapon. I am going to do the exact same thing just over hand. So now I am controlling the hand and the weapon. So after I am done softening him up, here if I feel him loose if I don’t I am going to rake my finger taking skin along out with the knife as well.
Steve makes a good point that the weapon arm has to be locked in some way, so that the assailant can't do a slashing or in-and-out motion against your ribcage or abdomen. A friend of mine and I had practiced shoving the weapon arm back across the assailant's body, so that, say the knife being in his right hand, his right elbow would be pressed against his lower right-hand side ribs, while his weapon hand would be up against his left pectoral muscle or left shoulder.
Teacher, thank you for the insightful lesson.
this guys is not a krav maga expert. he makes many mistakes and does not take into consideration many different scenarios. it is clear he wasnt trained by i.d.f experts
