Chokes & Bear Hug Techniques for Krav Maga

Hi! I am Steve “The Dragon Gimenez” along with Heath Jones. In this segment, we are going to go over some self-defense techniques against physical attacks by an assailant, meaning chokes, we have several, we have chokes, we have bear hugs, we have on the ground, we have hair grabs, shirt grabs, we have everything. Right now we are going to go over some of the common attacks. In this attack, we are going to do this segment in mind of women. Heath is going to come in, if he is going to attack me I am going to pretend like I am just some poor helpless soul who is going to be attacked but its going to turn out that he is going to be the poor helpless soul, so from here he comes forward with the attack… so from here once I come through with the attack, I finish the attack. I do not know, if this guy is done after the initial attack, we're war combatives, that’s one of the things about Krav Maga, we are very aggressive and hard. We keep fighting until there is no fight left. His hands come up to the throat. In Krav Maga we always address the immediate danger. And here right now it's the thumbs across the throat. We use a plucking motion coming straight across. This is an instinctive movement, one of the good things about Krav Maga is they took what we use instinctively and found techniques that are similar to them, and just modify them to our self-defense technique. So from here instinctively we do this. So instead of just doing this we now do this. You have no leverage and no strength to the outside of his wrist here. So this why we attack the thumbs coming straight across you. While you do this defense your hands are always in the hooked in position so together slightly hooked in. When I come in, I come to the center of my chest and exploding out. You do not go straight to the hand, we want to have a little bit of momentum here, so when we go to the center, there is a little bit of space, here and here, that is all you need. So from here I am going to come straight out, walking straight down. All I am trying to do is trying to give me enough space and enough time to come up with a simultaneously or nearly simultaneous counter attack. In this case, because his hands are occupied, his groin is in front of me, this will be a groin kick right here just like this. While I come through here I am going to drop down, I still have control of his hands, I do not want to let go, I do not want his hands out here, because he is just going to pull him away, we will have another fight again. So I am going to control him all the way until I am done from here kick again, here may be do it again nice and slow. Kick here to the groin, come back down, now because his head is forward, look it's on a platter, elbow, just like in the other segment, straight through. When I come with the elbow, I am going to come through here or strike again, may be another elbow, whatever you want to do so from here notice how his hands still has control, I still have control of his body, so here I am going to drive knees here, may be another groin kick, may be a kick to the knees, straight down right to the knee, bear hugs. For women, there may be a rape scenario, it may be a scenario where they are taking you from point A to point B. So with this defense just keep in mind, in this defense is always basing out. You have to base out, you have to multiply your weight, if you bent down to pick up the keys that you have dropped or something, you have made a defense. We are going to attack, and I just based down here, just like this in this position, right now he is keeping his head down, because he knows what is coming next. There will be… he comes in. I think take his hips back. Now this is going to be his back. He is not able to lift my weight with his back from here. With this position I can just sit here. He is going to continue to fight. The more he fights, the more I drive my elbows into his skull from behind. I am using the back of the elbow coming straight across here making contact the head. I am not just going to the head, I am going through the head, coming straight around, just like that. You start from here, again, 1, 2, 3 as he softens up the grip right here, I am going to turn with one of those elbows, coming in with some knees and some groin kicks right there.
