Calculate How Much Adopting a Dog Cost will Cost

I’m Tracy Tenner with Better Behavior Dog Training at Extra Care Animal Hospital in Davie, Florida. I am here today on behalf of Expert Village.com at the Tri County Humane Society in Boca Raton, Florida, where I have volunteered as a trainer and a behaviorist. We are here today to help you learn how to pick the perfect pet for you and your family. So if you are ready, let’s get started. The cost of ownership for the pet is a very important thing to consider. If you choose to adopt a very large dog, dog food alone could put you into the poor house. It is important that you feed a good quality dog food, and it is not cheap to do so. So that is one of the things to consider. Another thing to consider is the dog’s overall health. Are you going to have many medical bills? Are you going to have unexpected medical bills? Some of the things you can count on for sure are grooming costs, annual visits to your veterinarian for vaccinations, and unexpected costs associated with sickness, disease and general lack of health. There are certain necessities each dog is going to require. Heart worm prevention is a very important one, and it is not inexpensive. Also we have to consider flea and tick prevention. The overall health of the dog. These are all things that not only affect your dog but also affect your children, your family and visitors to your home. Dogs can get parasites and mange. They can get things that can be transmitted to people as well as to other animals. So when adopting a pet it is very important that you know in your own heart that you are able to afford to take care of that pet properly when problems arise.
