What to Expect from Acupuncture Treatment: Free Online Medical Guide

So when people call up our office they often wonder is how a session goes. So one of the things that we tell people is that the first time you come in it’s going to be a substantially longer time because we’re going to have you fill out paperwork and we actually ask a lot more detailed questions than a Western Medicine doctor. They tend to ask you about big things like do you have diabetes do you have heart disease you know, things like that. We ask all these tiny tiny little questions that people don’t tend to notice like do you tend to be hot or cold, do you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Things like that, tiny tiny things that people don’t notice until they fill out the form and then they’re like oh yeah I have this and I have this. What that does is it provides us clues to be able to figure out like what is the root diagnosis of what’s going on. So somebody may come in and appear to have what seems to be relatively unrelated symptoms and what we’re looking at is what’s the root cause that might be causing all those symptoms. So, in that period of time, for us it’s about two hours, you get to fill out the paper work and then we ask you a very detailed health history. We get to answer your questions about Chinese medicine or Oriental medicine or acupuncture and then we also will explain to you kind of what your diagnosis is to you in normal English. And then we’ll also give you a treatment so the session is usually about two hours and it covers all those things.
