Playing Measures 1-4 for Reading a Fake Book in A Major

So now we're going to go through our first four measures of our tune, and we're going to take a look at the sheet music first, and we're in A major, A major has three sharps and it will be notated as this. You have F sharp, C sharp, G sharp. So you'll see three sharps right next to your treble clef sign and that's how you know you're in A major. And you want to write these chords down as we go through, again, if you don't have manuscript paper, just write in the barre lines on a blank piece of paper. It doesn't matter. We're not doing melody right now anyways. And our first chord is A major, for two barres, and then we have B minor for a measure, and E seven for a measure, so we're just going to apply our different scales and play through that, so if you look at my fingers now we have A major, B minor, E seven. I'll repeat it again. A major, B minor, E seven. And as you go through and learn how to read the melody lines you can apply your melody line as you play these chords. And those are your first four measures in A major.
