How the Weather Effects Herding for Collies

I'm Jim Lesle, animal trainer with Expert Village. Today we're talking about border collies, all your herding dogs, not just border collies, almost every single one of them have very long thick coats. Not only does this require a lot of grooming and care but in your warmer weather climates and in the summertime, they definitely need provided with plenty of fresh clean water. In your northern climates where it's very cold and especially in the winter time, they're going to definitely thrive a little bit better in the cooler water. But remember in the extreme cold, even with these long coats, they still need shelter and protection from that weather. So wherever you live, be sure to provide your border collie with plenty of good fresh clean water, grooming, as well as shade and protection from the elements. Again, I'm Jim Leske and this is Tess and we'll be back with talking more about border collies in just a minute.
